On 25 July 2025, Wonderboom National Airport became the launchpad for something far greater than aircraft—it became a runway for dreams.

The 10th edition of the Children’s Flight was a deeply significant milestone. Not only did this year’s event mark a full decade of bringing first-time flight experiences to underprivileged youth, but it also celebrated a cumulative achievement: more than 5 000 children have now taken to the skies since the initiative began.

Connect-it was proud to play a key role in this year’s event as the official Wing Sponsor. Our dedicated team was on the ground throughout the day, leading the newly established Vlerkdraer Eskader (Wings Bearer Squadron), ensuring that no child or volunteer left without receiving their symbolic set of wings—a small but powerful token of hope, courage, and celebration.

This year, 1 000 children aged between 6 and 13, all from registered charities and children’s homes, were treated to their very first flight experience. Thanks to precise planning and remarkable generosity from more than 100 pilots, around 150 children were even able to enjoy a second flight—getting to experience both fixed-wing and helicopter rides in one unforgettable day.

But the wonder didn’t stop there. Children were welcomed into a vibrant world of joy, with live entertainment including clowns, jumping castles, singers, and a thrilling airshow. One of the standout moments was a dramatic supercar vs aircraft race, much to the delight of the cheering young crowd. Hot 102.7 FM broadcasted live from the event, while airshow legend Brian Emmenis kept energy levels high with his iconic running commentary.

Event organiser Felix Gosher described the Children’s Flight as a movement designed to give underprivileged children “unbridled access to aviation”—a vision made possible this year by 175 generous sponsors and 150 pilots from across South Africa.

For Connect-it, it was about more than logistics—it was about presence. Our team stood ready at every re-entry point, meeting each child as they landed, and handing over a set of wings as a reminder that someone showed up for them—that their moment mattered.

We believe in showing up where it counts. In creating connection. In lifting others up—sometimes quite literally.

Here’s to the next 10 years of dreaming, flying, and rising above.
